The internationally aclaimed 5th Annual Chardonnay Symposium (TCS) will be held at Dolphin Bay Resort & Spa in Pismo Beach, May 16-18, 2014. The Symposium is considered to be the country’s premier event for education and appreciation of the Chardonnay varietal. For the past five years, it has brought together winemakers, sommeliers, and wine journalists, and food and wine enthusiasts from all over the world to taste, explore, to learn about this popular grape varietal.
Beginning on Friday May16, 2014, the preferred Chef of Central Coast Winemakers, Executive Chef Maegen Loring along with Executive Chef Jacob Moss prepare a Chardonnay Wine-Inspired multi-course dinner. Meticulously paired with both internationally and domestically produced world-class Chardonnay wines, this dinner will be held at Lido at Dolphin Bay in Pismo Beach. Proceeds will be donated to the Cal Poly Wine & Viticulture Program, advanced reservation is required; tickets are $150.00 per guest.
On the second day, May 17, 2014, is the TCS Seminar & Panel Discussion begins at 9:30am-12:30pm. This highly-anticipated Seminar & Panel Discussion will be once again be moderated by West Coast Editor of Wine Enthusiast MagazineSteve Heimoff. Past panel topics have included lively debates on the role of oak, unoaked chardonnay, malolactic fermentation, clones, the role of terroir, and the heavy manipulation of the chardonnay grape. This year’s discussion will of course include more subjects of great interest and highlights the wines and producers. The panel will be made up of both domestic and international authorities. Following the Seminar & Panel Discussion, is The Grand Chardonnay Tasting & Silent Auction in Support of the Cal Poly Wine & Viticulture Program begins with early admission at 12:30pm for VIP and media pass holders, from 1pm-4pm.
On the final day of TCS, May 18, 2014, Sunday, the neighboring Edna Valley and other Central Coast wineries will offer ancillary promotions and events in conjunction with TCS, to create a full immersion in the spirit of the Chardonnay Syposium.
