We have briefly touched on why we celebrate Saint Patrick’s Day as well as why corned beef and cabbage is such a popular dish for the holiday but what is the deal with all of the green on Saint Patrick’s Day? Well, there are actually a few reasons why green is worn for the holiday. They include (but are not limited to):
- The color pays homage to Ireland’s nickname, The Emerald Isle.
- It represents the green stripe on the Irish flag.
- It is thought that St. Patrick used green shamrocks to teach people about the Holy Trinity.
- It also represents leprechauns, though in the past they were imagined to be wearing red and gold jackets with pointy red hats, today they are always depicted in almost all green.
So far for Saint Patrick’s Day we have shared some fun and festive alcoholic drinks as well as some amazing comfort food recipes, but what about the desserts?! Most of us love to end a meal with a satisfying sweet treat. Here are 3 tasty desserts you may want to whip up.
